Linear Actuator Options
Depending on your individual requirements, SWP can offer a range of additional options for your linear actuators, including:
Cushions
Hydraulic cylinder cushioning slows the speed of a cylinder piston before it reaches its terminal position. Decelerating the cylinder rod near end-of-stroke stops the piston from striking the hydraulic cylinder ends, hence reducing mechanical shock. Additional benefits include reduced noise and vibration.
Ports
Hydraulic cylinder ports play a critical role in accommodating the fluid flow between the cylinder and the equipment. Ports allow fluid both in and out of the cylinder to achieve the linear motion produced by the cylinder SWP offer various types / sizes / positions of ports to suit your individual application.
Clevis
Clevis mounts are pivot mounts and allow the cylinder to pivot in a single range of motion. This type of mount is useful in applications where the cylinder is required to pivot through an arc during extension and retraction. Mounting types are as follows; flange, foot, or end joint mounting. SWP can also supply a range of internal bearing or pins for your selected Clevis type.
Trunnion Mounts
Trunnion mounted cylinders are heavy duty pivoting cylinders with pins mounted to the head, cap or intermediate position. Although superior to clevis or pivot mounted cylinders, they may still require stop tubes in long stroke applications.
Mounting Brackets
A full range of brackets can be supplied to allow your linear cylinder to be mounted securely.
Self-Aligning Rod Couplings
Self Aligning Couplers eliminate expensive precision machining for mounting fixed or rigid guide in cylinder for slide applications. Our couplers increase cylinder efficiency by eliminating friction caused by misalignment.
Extended Tie Rods
You can request extended tie rods to allow addition mounting possibilities for your linear cylinder.
Blind Hole Mountings
Allow your cylinders to be mounted tightly and securely to its target position.
Stainless Rods
Provide greater corrosion resistance for those environments that require no rust. Especially useful in the food and marine industries.
Gators and Covers
Protecting your cylinder and its exposed parts from dust, dirt and grime that could emanate form your application or industrial process. Especially useful for external and extreme climates, such as mining and drilling activities.
Position Feedback Transducer
Used for understanding your cylinder's relative stroke position. A transducer can feed this information back via a range of graphical user interfaces. Useful when it is critical to understand the position of your device at any given point.
End of Stroke Switches
Providing useful information that your cylinder has reached its defined target position, whether that be start, mid-point or finish.
Gland Drains
Useful for showing leakage past seals. Often this leakage emanates in the gland drain where it can be captured and until new seals can be fitted.
Stroke Adjusters
Allow a range of end of stroke tolerance to be set to suit the individual application requirements. Extremely useful when setting the closed or open positions to doors or other applications where a precise position is set.

This is often seen in our sub-sea and naval business where low carbon variants offer greater corrosion resistance along with, in certain instances, a galvanic cell.
